Corey Arceneaux (International Creole Zydeco Ambassador)

Zydeco legend Corey Arceneaux is "Accordion Man". While many accordion players exist, few can convey emotions through the piano accordion like Corey. His unique and versatile style defies categorization. Hailing from Carencro, Louisiana, Corey began his zydeco journey at the age of 11 in 1986, marking 40 years of music and passion. Guided by his parents, Paul and the late Debra (Melancon) Arceneaux, who nurtured his passion. In 1986, Santa fulfilled his dream with a $100 red bandmaster accordion from the Sears catalog. He briefly trained under Clayton Sampay and spent Saturdays practicing music with his cousin Shane Bernard on the family farm in Ossun, Louisiana. Corey formed his first band while still in elementary school. For over 36 years, he has led Corey Arceneaux and the Zydeco Hot Peppers, performing widely and holding membership in the Recording Academy. With a musical heritage spanning over 90 years to his great-grandfather Ferdinand Arceneaux, a Creole born accordionist Born in 1892, Corey proudly upholds the legacy of one of zydeco's first families, following in the footsteps of his great-uncle Fernest Arceneaux, named the "New Prince of the Accordion" for his virtuosic playing. Fernest, a key figure in shaping zydeco, inspired Corey, who toured with him before founding his own band in late 1991. Today, Corey shares zydeco with audiences worldwide, blending R&B, blues, and country with traditional zydeco to reflect his heritage. Influenced by legends like Clifton Chenier, Buckwheat Zydeco, and his great uncles Fernest Arceneaux and Rodney Bernard, Corey also benefited from mentorship by Buckwheat. With the Zydeco Hot Peppers, he captivates audiences internationally and domestically with energetic performances. Additionally, Corey is an award-winning commercial radio personality, promoting zydeco, southern soul, and Creole culture for 34 years, deeply rooted in his African American Creole heritage.  Corey has passed his musical legacy to his sons and was recently nominated by Creole Inc. for the 2024/2025 "Ambassador of Zydeco Award" and "Top Hit Single" for his song Gumbo. 

Desmond Joseph

Bass Guitar, Lead Guitar, Background Vocals

Desmond, Corey’s eldest son, is a gifted bassist, guitarist, songwriter, and accordionist, born in Lewisburg Louisiana and raised in Scott, Louisiana. He started his musical path at age four, playing the scrubboard with the Zydeco Hot Peppers. Initially working as a backup scrubboard player at weekly restaurant gigs, his direction shifted when Russell Benoit, the band's bassist, gave him a bass guitar. Self-taught, Desmond improved his technique practicing with the 2000 Zydeco Hot Peppers album “Tell Me Why,” which features renowned bassist Chuck Bush. When Russell Benoit had a heart attack in 2008 and could no longer perform, Desmond auditioned for his father and demonstrated his skill. As a self-taught prodigy, he became one of zydeco’s leading bassists. Since joining the band in June 2000, Desmond has recorded multiple projects with the Zydeco Hot Peppers, played bass on "Breathe" from Chris Ardoin's "Zydeco Fever," released tracks under D. Cole and Nu'Gen Zydeco, and collaborated with artists like Chris Ardoin, Rusty Metoyer, Andre Thierry, Leon Chavis, Sean Ardoin, and Curley Taylor. He was nominated by Creole Inc. for the 2024/2025 Newcomer/Best New Artist Award for his single "Tender Love" at their 2025 ceremony.
