International Creole Zydeco Ambassador

Zydeco Legend Corey Arceneaux is a fourth-generation Creole accordionist, bandleader, composer, broadcaster, and cultural ambassador from Carencro, Louisiana. Beginning his accordion journey at age 11 in 1986, Corey comes from one of Louisiana’s historic Creole musical families, with a musical lineage stretching more than 90 years to his great-grandfather, Ferdinand Arceneaux, and his legendary great-uncle Fernest Arceneaux, the “New Prince of the Accordion.”

For more than three decades, Corey has led Corey Arceneaux & the Zydeco Hot Peppers, performing zydeco across the United States and internationally. His expressive piano accordion style blends traditional Louisiana zydeco with blues, R&B, soul, country, and other American roots influences.

A longtime award-winning radio personality and advocate for Louisiana Creole culture, Corey has spent decades using both the stage and the airwaves to promote zydeco and the artists who keep the tradition alive.

In 2026, Corey celebrated 40 years with the accordion with Accordion Man, his first full feature recording with all three of his sons. Released with the Zydeco Fusion Band, the album carries the Arceneaux family’s Creole musical legacy into its fifth generation while exploring new directions for the music.

Corey Arceneaux brings more than music to the stage—he brings Louisiana history, family, culture, and the living spirit of Creole zydeco. Corey has passed his musical legacy to his sons and was recently nominated by Creole Inc. for the 2024/2025 "Ambassador of Zydeco Award" and "Top Hit Single" for his song Gumbo. 

Desmond Joseph

Bass Guitar, Lead Guitar, Background Vocals

Desmond, Corey’s eldest son, is a gifted bassist, guitarist, songwriter, and accordionist, born in Lewisburg Louisiana and raised in Scott, Louisiana. He started his musical path at age four, playing the scrubboard with the Zydeco Hot Peppers. Initially working as a backup scrubboard player at weekly restaurant gigs, his direction shifted when Russell Benoit, the band's bassist, gave him a bass guitar. Self-taught, Desmond improved his technique practicing with the 2000 Zydeco Hot Peppers album “Tell Me Why,” which features renowned bassist Chuck Bush. When Russell Benoit had a heart attack in 2008 and could no longer perform, Desmond auditioned for his father and demonstrated his skill. As a self-taught prodigy, he became one of zydeco’s leading bassists. Since joining the band in June 2000, Desmond has recorded multiple projects with the Zydeco Hot Peppers, played bass on "Breathe" from Chris Ardoin's "Zydeco Fever," released tracks under D. Cole and Nu'Gen Zydeco, and collaborated with artists like Chris Ardoin, Rusty Metoyer, Andre Thierry, Leon Chavis, Sean Ardoin, and Curley Taylor. He was nominated by Creole Inc. for the 2024/2025 Newcomer/Best New Artist Award for his single "Tender Love" at their 2025 ceremony.

Tyler Arceneaux

Drummer, Scrubboard, Background Vocals

Meet the talented drummer and scrubboard player from Scott, Louisiana. As the youngest son of Corey Arceneaux and a fifth-generation Creole musician, Tyler has been immersed in the vibrant world of zydeco music since birth—truly “Zydeco from the Womb.” His love for drums began at age two, and the movie “Drumline” fueled his passion even further. From 2000 to 2012, he studied the drummers of the Zydeco Hot Peppers, often standing beside them with his little scrubboard. Mentored by Johnnie Batiste, Shane Bernard, and Oreun Joubert Jr., Tyler gained hands-on experience by setting up a second drum set alongside Oreun during gigs. He officially became the Zydeco Hot Peppers’ permanent drummer from 2012 to 2022, performing at restaurant gigs, festivals, and U.S. tours. A powerhouse on the scrubboard, Tyler’s unmatched skills have been on display since joining the band in 2005. He has contributed to recordings, composed music, and served as an assistant producer on several studio projects. His dedication and passion for zydeco shine in every performance, and he’s shared the stage with zydeco artist like Chris Ardoin, Jeffery Broussard, Lil Nate, CJ Vedell, and Curley Taylor.
