Early days

radio since early 90''s

Corey’s radio journey kicked off in April 1982 when his great-uncle, Russell Chaisson, and Joshua Jackson founded KJCB, Lafayette’s first Black-owned radio station. As a kid, he got the rare chance to sit in on the Zydeco Gumbo Show with JJ Callier Sr., sparking his love for broadcasting. In the early ’90s, his DJ career took off when he filled in for Lester Thibeaux at KVOL 1330 AM, and with guidance from John Broussard and program director Marcus “Dr. Boogie” Dauterive, he took over the KJCB zydeco show in 1991, rebranding it as “The Hot Zydeco Show.” While earning his Mass Communication degree at USL, Corey also contributed to KRVS FM 88.7 before making his mark at KFXZ Z105.9 FM in 2011.
